Patients with moderate to severe hip and knee osteoarthritis can be assessed through the Rapid Access Clinic (RAC) * a specially trained team reviews patient needs and recommends surgical or non-surgical treatment options * For those not needing surgery at this time, information is provided on available resources, to support the patient in the community * for those requiring surgery there may be a wait time of several months to see a surgeon, prioritization is based on severity of injury
Details about the Rapid Access Clinic (RAC):
- Appointment is booked within two business days of referral
- Patient is seen within two to four weeks
- The RAC will share assessment results with the primary care provider who referred the patient
- Appointments are 45 minutes long with arrival time 15 minutes before the appointment
- Wear shorts or loose-fitting pants, comfortable clothing and comfortable footwear
- Patient to bring a CD of most recent X-rays rays and a list of medications
